I have found that if you can take one word, or one verse, and settle your mind on it, the peace of God will keep you amidst troubling situations.
Does your Tuesday feel like Monday too?
Im a little thrown off from the 4 day weekend we just had. It was too good to us and we are a little sad it’s over. I wanted to skip the gym today and Jaydon wanted to skip school, totally a Monday kind of day. We both pushed through.
So, this weekend we were all home. Landon had his 8th grade dance Friday night and he was super cute all dressed up.
I think he had a good time. You know how boys are, the details go unspoken.
I can’t believe I will have two in high school next year. Time is passing so fast. It seemed like the days would never end when they were in diapers, and now I can keep daylight long enough.
Saturday the boys stayed at some paintball field all day long and I got lost in Target around the book section. Once I realized I had read half the book, I came home with Gwyneth Paltow’s cookbook, It’s All Good. I have started off this year eliminating some things from my diet and this book has some healthy inspiration in it, along with weekly menus. I like people to make it plain for me and they even spelled it out pretty good. Really…who doesn’t want to look a little more like Gwyneth?
We had a lazy sleep in kind of Sunday. The kind where you stay a little longer in your jammy’s, have a few extra cups of coffee, and find a late church service to attend. It was glorious. For the people in my life that this is your norm and you take it for granted, I will gladly drag you with me next Sunday into my world. God must have had a hand in us going to the late service because at the moment we all walked into the foyer of church, eyes met a couple we hadn’t seen in 20 years when I lived in another state. Before we went to Lee University, Trent and I led worship in a youth group where this couple was on the leadership team. We all stopped and stared at each other like, “hey….I know you!” Come to find out we are practically neighbors, and I wouldn’t have known it if we hadn’t slept in! See…God wants us to rest!
ps. It was an Anthropology kind of Sunday too..
Whenever I am feeling un-inpsired to cook, I open up one Kate Lee Joel’s cookbooks. It has been my goal to make everything in her books once but this recipe I am sharing has become a repeat. It has zucchini in it and all of my kids devour it. Score!
I feel really good about myself when this comes out of the oven. And when I am grating the nutmeg and the zucchini, I feel like I’m a pretty legit cook. just sayin..
SO here it is.. click the link and it will take you right to the recipe:)
Nothing like a layover to get me blogging! In fact, I could use a few more right now to play a lil catch- up.
We are home from a weekend in San Antonio. Ministry on the road the past 5+ years has been adventurous. Along the way we have encountered incredible times worshipping with new people but the greatest treasure to me are the relationships formed. For instance, this weekend we were with pastors who have invited us back so many times they have become like family to us. We had enough down time to do some dining downtown and discovered we are all “foodies”! Really, aren’t all church people anyway? We schedule food around every meeting! But when someone offers to go off the beating path from chains, I love them more. Ha!
I just get a high off a chic restaurant. And Mexican food. With fresh guacamole. And a strong Diet Coke.
If ever you find yourself in San Antonio, go to Rosario’s for fresh mex or Zinc for dining downtown on a quaint outdoor patio.
We are above 10,000 feet. One stop away from Nashville and two days of band sessions with my mister, my producer James Matchack, and an A-list line up Nashville’s finest musicians.
James brings that kind of favor to us and we are so grateful for his influence in our lives+ friendship with his beautiful family.
I wanted to venture out on a different sound and style of music on this project. James has a deep background in modern country and CCM music, and is bringing brilliant ideas to the table on the songs, me, the mister, James, Darnell Miller, and John Wilds all have written for the project and I adore the tunes! We have a few cover songs that I LOVE to sing as well.
Can’t wait to share!
Video blog from the studio later 🙂
