I happened up on a great tool for my first grader. Since he is concentrating on learning site words and simple addition and subtraction, I found a game that would work both lessons in one.
On one of my shopping trips to Home Goods, walking down the kitchen isle, I found this misplaced item, Diary of a Wimpy Kid Scrabble.
Not only does Jaydon get use out of this game to practice his site words, he can count the points on the bottom of the letters for a math lesson.
We are doing our best at managing our time with football almost nightly. I’m trying to find creative ways to get Jaydon reading better without applying too much pressure on a tired kid whose been in school all day and officially worn out from practice. He has football right after school and by the time we get back home, he’s ready for a shower, dinner, and bed!
What seems like a game is really a couple lessons that we can squeeze in before bedtime.
This ended up being some great one on one time with my lil guy and he really loves that attention:)
