I had been praying for God’s protection over my children last week above normal. This weekend my daughter was involved in a car accident. Trent and I were in Chicago and the kids were able to visit my mom. You never forget where you are and what you were doing when you receive these types of phone calls. As we were coming down the elevator of a hotel, I received the call.
A jeep hit my grandmother as she was turning. The jeep flipped and threw the driver out. That was bad enough for me to hear, but then to find out that Madison was in the car also, heart wrenching! At that point my phone disconnected due to being in an elevator. We were up on the 25th floor and it seemed like an eternity to get out of there!
Other than a few bruises my grandmother and daughter were safe from real harm.
I couldn’t wait to talk with my daughter and to hear her voice. She was shaken up a bit but let me tell you when my tears rolled.
Madison said, “Mommy, all I know is that I heard a voice tell me to put my seatbelt on and I know it was God telling me.” She told me she put the chest strap behind her and was corrected by the voice again to put it across her chest.
I am so thankful for the protection of the Lord over my family. This really opened my eyes to see how life is truly a vapor as I reflected on Madison’s life all weekend.
This really puts things in perspective for me this holiday. As long as I have my family with me, that’s all I need for Christmas!
