I find it amazing how God speaks to us individually yet those ears that are inclined, are hearing universally. God can speak one word to me and it will strike a cord in my soul to tie up a decade of hopes, and it can be the same word to another hearer and encompass something completely different. Before the Christmas holidays began, my prayers were asking God for one thing I could focus on this year ahead that would cause me to breakthrough some monotonous cycles that seem to restrain me.
One night, headed to the mall for a little Christmas shopping, Trent began reading to me a few scriptures off his i-phone that were speaking to him that week.
1 John 3:20,21 “For whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.
My spirit leaped, that’s it! Without saying it aloud, I knew what God was speaking to me in those verses, while I was listening to Trent share something different God was speaking to him. I will boldly say that I didn’t even mention there was a word in there for me, because there is a preacher-man trapped in Trent and he would steal my revelation! HA-HAA! I love him;)
What was my word?
full trust; belief in the powers, trustworthiness, or reliability of a person or thing/ full trust/ faith, reliance, dependence.
A light went off in my head. I saw what I was lacking. Fear had gripped so many of my thoughts. There’s always a voice of the enemy to contend with, but we can’t forget a powerful scripture found in Proverbs. “When a mans ways are pleasing to the Lord, even his enemies will be at peace with him.”
And even if my heart condemns me, God is greater! AND, with CONFIDENCE, I can have whatever I ask of Him. I will receive.
I had some trust issues last year and that can mess with your confidence. But now, my faith is strong, and I will trust in the Lord with all my heart, rely on Him, and believe in His power to create synergy for me.
As I was saying earlier, God speaks universally. As I was surfing a few blogs today, and I crossed this link encouraging us to put away our resolutions and focus on a word for the year.
Hence why I chose to blog about my choice word. I hope you become inspired and allow God to lead you into greater things this year!
