If you could live anywhere in the country, where would it be? If there were no strings attached and life could go on, no families you’d upset, what city, town, or country could you see yourself living?
This is something Ive been thinking about the past three years. All of my life I have lived somewhere out of obligation. Until we shifted into the freedom of full-time travel and being self-employed. Now we can pretty much base anywhere we want and continue on as long as there is a decent airport nearby.
BUT! Speaking of COUNTRIES is where I wanna dream a minute longer.
When I was in highschool I was intrigued with exchange students. The past couple of years Ive secretly thought about and talked out loud with only one friend about spending a year in Europe simply for the experience. My friend Trina says there are famlies that will kindof like trade spaces with you for a year. Do you dare to dream? I want my kids to have a full life doing extraordinary things. And I enjoy stretching myself as well! Its just a year, and oh how they fly by lately!
When I went to the Alt Summit, I discovered Gabrielle Blair from Design Mom. She shared that she was moving her entire family to France for a year! After spending some time over at her blog, and its a good one, Ive become even more intrigued with this idea.
She says there has been no real increase in living expenses, so its just really an exchange of scenery and culture.
Heres a sneak peak of the lovely home and a link if youd like to read more about her experience so far! Did I mention she has 6 children to take along?
Since Im homeschooling right now, that is also an advantage to exploring this option.
Life is so short and it is what you make it. Write a great book with your life! Your grandkids one day will be proud:)
